Sarah Ludwick to be Honored March 25 at the Covina Center for the Performing Arts

Sarah Ludwick, a tremendous community volunteer and contributor to the YWCA SGV and countless other organizations in the San Gabriel Valley will be honored March 25, 2012 at a champagne brunch and reception at the Covina Center for the Performing Arts.

Co-sponsored by the Covina Center for the Performing Arts and The Gas Company, the proceeds of the event will benefit the YWCA San Gabriel Valley’s Intervale Senior Services Meals-on-Wheels Program and the WINGS Domestic Violence Program.

The event begins at 2:00 pm with a Champagne Brunch with Sarah and Art Ludwick. Ticket Prices are $125 per person or $800 for a table of eight people. These tickets include the champagne brunch, reception, and awards program.

At 3:00 pm are the Reception and Awards Program. Ticket Prices are $40 per person or $25 per person for YWCA SGV volunteers. These tickets include the reception (appetizers, a no-host bar, entertainment, a silent and live auction) and the awards program in which Sarah Ludwick will be honored.

The YWCA San Gabriel Valley is a nonprofit organization, and 100% of the ticket cost is tax deductible. Tickets can be purchased online at http://covinacenter.com or at the box office for the Covina Center for the Performing Arts (104 North Citrus Avenue, Covina, CA). Box office hours are Thursday to Saturday, 11 am. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

WINGS Tennis Classic May 4, 2012 at the Claremont Club

The 39th annual Tennis Classic fundraiser will be May 4, 2012 at the Claremont Club .

An event not to be missed, the Tennis Classic raises funds to support critical services for domestic violence victims. This 36th annual event will be held at The Claremont Club (1777 Monte Vista Avenue, Claremont) on May 4, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition to the fund of the tennis matches, the festivities will include a live auction as well as a silent auction set up courtside, featuring wine, concerts and relaxing vacation packages. Carefully selected vendors will provide for a fun shopping experience of champagne tasting, jewelry, designer purses, and clothing. At noon, tennis players will break from their games to enjoy a delicious lunch. During lunch, a Fashion Show will be held on the main tennis court.

To play in the round robin, tickets are $60. To attend the event for lunch and enjoy the festivities other than tennis, tickets are $30.

Women of Achievement in the Armed Forces: Honoring Courage and Commitment Nominations Due February 20, 21012



Nominations are due February 20, 2012 for women who have served or are serving in a branch of the U.S Armed Forces (veteran, active duty, or reserves).

Honorees will be guests of the YWCA SGV at the Women of Achievement Awards presentation on Thursday evening, June 21, 2012, at the Pavilion in the Industry Hills Expo Center (16200 Temple Avenue, City of Industry). Honorees are selected by a diverse panel of professionals.

Women serve throughout the world in all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. They represent over 14% of the active duty force, 17.5% of the National Guard and Reserve Forces, and 20% of new military recruits. Women veterans represent 7.5% of the total U.S. veteran population.

To advance the YWCA San Gabriel Valley mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all, we are seeking nominations of extraordinary women who have served or are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
