A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO, DEBRA M. WARD

The past few weeks have been especially challenging for our immigrant communities, as protests continue across Los Angeles County. Many in our community have been directly impacted by these events and we recognize the fear, uncertainty, and concern they may bring. The show of federal force without local collaboration or consent is disconcerting, and it appears to incite more agitation and confusion than a peaceful resolution.

In times like these, unity and collective strength matter more than ever. We remain committed to supporting the well-being and the safety of everyone in our community. In our efforts to support justice for those impacted, we were encouraged by an emergency motion, introduced by Supervisor Hilda Solis and passed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors this past Tuesday, in response to the immigration enforcement activity observed over these past few days.

YWCA San Gabriel Valley provided a statement of support in favor of the motion that will ensure that local and state laws are upheld and accessible to anyone impacted. We will continue to monitor these developments and advocate for justice and compassion for all of our communities in L.A. County.

Sincerely,

Debra M. Ward, MPH

Chief Executive Officer
