CEO MESSAGE

To Our San Gabriel Valley Community,

This year, our San Gabriel Valley community has faced immense hardship, from the devastation of the Eaton Canyon Fire to increased federal immigration enforcement that separated and displaced families. This will be the first Christmas after the fire and for those impacted by immigration raids who have lost or been separated from their loved ones. This season carries a deep emotional weight, and families will be in our hearts…

YWCA San Gabriel Valley’s Holiday Giving campaigns invite our community to support those who rely on us for essential resources and care. Through our Adopt a Senior, Adopt a Family, and our Holiday Hope and Relief Drive, YWCA-SGV is able to assist those who are in need the most. While we work year-round to offer our essential resources and support, the holiday season can be especially difficult for many of our clients, as feelings of loneliness and isolation are often more intense. Through these initiatives, we aim to bring meaningful impact to their lives. We hope you’ll join us in this mission of compassion and connection.

INTERESTED IN GIVING BACK BUT DON’T KNOW HOW?

This year alone, our Congregate Dining Program has provided  161,907 meals to our clients. Additionally our Home Delivery Program (HDM) has served over  105,380 meals to those who are unable to travel to our senior center facilities.  This is why our community-based initiatives are so important.

As one of the largest senior services providers in the county, our goal is to provide our seniors with a special holiday season. Now we are looking to expand our reach by proving our senior participants with a memorable holiday season, especially during a time when many of our clients experience loneliness and isolation.

With your help, we are looking to fundraise for our senior clients in efforts of providing essentials items and gifts for our senior citizens during the holiday season. For more information or ways to help, please contact aprilwilliams@ywcasgv.org or call (626) 960-2995.

This newly community-focused initiative was created with the intent of giving those impacted by the recent Eaton Fire a sense of normalcy during this difficult time. For many of the individuals and families impacted, this holiday season can be especially challenging, due to the loss of their property. This is where we need your help. Through our partnership with local educational establishments and community members, our organization is looking to receive donations for our clients. Gift ideas include blankets, toys, gift cards,  books, and other essential items such as socks, clothing, and blankets. Your donated gifts will be wrapped by our Youth Advisory Board (YAB), and given to clients before the holiday season.

If you’re interested in connecting with our team, please reach out to our Community Engagement Client Navigator, Christina Capul, by emailing christinacapul@ywcasgv.org. Every donation makes a difference, and you have the power to give hope and support to those impacted during this special time of year.

Did you know that YWCA-SGV operates the 2nd largest Domestic Violence (DV) Shelter in the county? Our DV programs and initiatives were created with the main focus of addressing DV and teaching our community healthy relationship should look like – but the work is not done here.

For over 18 years, our agency has held our Annual Adopt a Family campaign with the goal of providing DV survivors and their families with a special gift during the holiday season. For many of the clients impacted, it can be a challenging time of uncertainty, which is why we want to gift our families with something that will make the holiday season special.

We are now asking for your help in making this year’s initiative a memorable one for those impacted. This is an opportunity to offer hope and happiness to our Domestic Violence Program’s most vulnerable families. Please note that we are especially in need of items for boys and teens.

If you are interested in donating or would like to learn how you can help, please be sure to contact our Case Management Services Manager, Melissa Guzman-Pitchford, at melissaguzman@ywcasgv.org.

Throughout the month, our agency will be hosting multiple holiday fundraising events to collect presents for our clients. Through our collaboration with local educational establishments, senior facilities, and other like-minded organizations, YWCA-SGV is on a mission.

Please be sure to share our holiday campaigns with anyone you think might be interested and follow us on all of our socials to stay updated on all things YWCA San Gabriel Valley.
